River has always been metaphor, one that is alive and breathing for me. River has always been teacher, guide, friend, mentor, trusted advisor, one whose living ways hold many keys in the Great Mystery. River is also for me a visual representation of, a touchstone to the vastness within our human bodies, a viewable, interactive model of the spine, cerebrospinal, craniosacral system structures and dynamics.
Did you know the river has a pulse?
Did you know the cranium moves in a breath like motion?
Did you know there is motion in stillness and stillness in motion?
Do you know, all life is a fractal, interconnected, enfolded, mirrored and moved in form in spiral patterns. I feel that in rivers, creeks, lakes, ocean. These bodies of water reflect inner dimensions of the fluids and fluids within fluids within my own physical being.
So, I go to the river (to). I sit with the river (with). I find where river is me (as).
This motion - this moving to, with, as - and then resting there is in itself a pulse. An undulation. A primary force of creation. Containing all and yet untraceable to any one thing. It is no thing. Nothing. Yet a knowing. Knothing. A great paradox of being and becoming. There's a knowing of the nothing as everything, a sense of a beyond that we are also a part of. We need silence and stillness to encounter and behold it.
I hear Dr. James Jealous implore: "Speak from direct experience." In that is the unspoken directive to have direct experience. And to rest in that. To let it sink in, permeate, saturate. To find the stillness amidst all the movement. To discover the movement that is inherent in all stillness. Undulation. The creation of experience to inform our knowing and carry us further down the river into ourselves. Where all rivers meet in stillness, a point of potential known in biodynamics as a fulcrum.
Here is the convergence for me: Biodynamic Cranial Approach. It's where the rivers meet the ocean and recognize they are all connected at every point in every moment. This is what this work ultimately is for me.
I invite you to experience this for yourself, directly. To feel what it feels like to be feeling what you're feeling in it. In Silence. In Stillness. In Wholeness. To intentionally move into a space that is informed by a greater field and also a potency within.
There is no doing here. Just a resting back. Knothing. |
